The laboratories of Fundación Instituto de Investigación Sanitaria de Santiago de Compostela (FIDIS) will coordinate the main platform of the European Atlantic region to innovate in the treatment of high-impact neurological diseases, primarily Alzheimer’s disease and Stroke, pandemics of the century XXI.
The European project “neuroATLANTIC: An Atlantic innovation platform on diagnosis and treatment for neurological diseases and aging“, arises with the aim of helping to mitigate the devastating effects of Alzheimer’s and stroke diseases, as well as exchanging experiences and clinical research protocols and preclinical jointly with companies in the health and biotechnology sector. This is the first project framed in the Interreg Atlantic initiative coordinated by a researcher from the Galician Health Service, Dr. Tomás Sobrino – Miguel Servet Researcher from SERGAS of the Clinical Neuroscience Research Laboratory – led jointly with Dr. Pablo Aguiar – Ramón and Cajal of the USC´s Molecular Imaging Group.
The Center for Cooperative Research in Biomaterials – CIC biomaGUNE, the University of Coimbra, the University of Cork and the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research are participating in the project as research partners. The business sector is represented in the project through the participation of companies such as Qubiotech Health Intelligence, Stab Vida, and the Galician Health Cluster (CSG).
