Although the United Kingdom has been excluded from the new Interreg Atlantic project call period due to the Brexit, the country remained an important part for the capitalization of the current Interreg project call period. Therefore, the Cluster Saúde de Galicia organized a fourth capitalization meeting in Belfast, Northern Ireland to continue the capitalization activities of the neuroATLANTIC project.
This hybrid meeting took place on May 27th and allowed interested stakeholders from the United Kingdom and Ireland to share information and discuss the neuroATLANTIC project. After the research results of the project consortium were presented, the different SMEs that participated demonstrated their innovative solutions for the diagnosis and treatment of neurological diseases.
Healthcare Analytics – represented by CEO Brendan Crossey – has created an app for real-time collection of assessment data that are crucial for successfully and timely diagnosing dementia.
Neurovalens – represented by CEO Jason McKeown – is an SME focused on creating devices that use cranial nerve stimulation technology that activates brain neurons without having to use implanted devices.
Head Diagnostics – represented by CEO David van Zuydam – has developed the iTremor, which is a handheld non-invasive device that offers a quick diagnosis of Parkinson’s Disease by measuring the Ocular Microtremor (brainstem function).Based on this capitalization meeting, it became clear that age-related neurological diseases impose a high burden on the national healthcare system of the United Kingdom. Therefore, collaboration to tackle the increasing prevalence of the diseases is important. This capitalization meeting contributed to the creation of new connections between the meeting participants for future collaborations.
