From 26 to 29 of April, 2022, the Cluster Saúde de Galicia, CSG, organized a business trip to Portugal. The main goals of this trip were to continue the capitalization activities and to pay a visit to the Portuguese members of the neuroATLANTIC consortium to get a better overview and understanding of the research and work they have been doing as part of the project.
On April 26th, Lino Ferreira, Researcher at the Center of Neurosciences and Cell Biology (CNC) and representative for the University of Coimbra as participant in the project consortium, received the CSG at the Biocant research facility to present their research and to give an overview of the other Portuguese organizations and entities the University of Coimbra supports that are related to the research, development, and innovation of neurological and age-related diseases.
On April 28th, the CSG visited STAB VIDA, a Portuguese SME that focuses on research and services related to genetics, genomics, and immunology. After an interesting meeting and a presentation by Gonçalo Doria where he introduced STAB VIDA’s new development Doctor Vida, Eduardo Coelho showed the CSG the production site of Doctor Vida. During this tour, the CSG was shown how the Doctor Vida testing device is designed, developed, and how it functions.
Finally, in addition to visiting the Portuguese consortium members, the CSG hosted a meeting with the NOVA Medical School Lisbon and OFECOME Lisbon, to identify future collaboration possibilities.
Based on this trip, it was concluded that Portugal is a prime location for the research and development in the field of neurological diseases. Both Portuguese consortium members are producing valuable research and products that will improve how neurological diseases at handled in the future.
